My 2 little men had GREAT soccer seasons this Fall. It was little man's first season of soccer with at least 2 goals in every game. Way to Go! Big brother was the MVP again this season with U9 and gets better with every game.

The boys were very excited about the first day of school. I was a worried Mommy because both of them started new schools this year. It's only been a week and things are back to normal. They have adjusted so well! The hardest thing is getting up so darn early in the mornings. I don't think we will EVER get used to that. Here's to a great school year!

My boys LOVE Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach! I don't know why we waited so long to go. It's such a cool place and there are so... mant things to see. The best part is that you get your 2nd day for FREE. How cool is that? My boys couldn't seem to get enough of those alligators, lemur monkeys, bats and snakes. Such a fun place!

Jimmy Buffett concert!

The Jimmy Buffett concert in NC this Spring Break was awesome. It was an outdoor concert and the weather couldn't have been better. My little guys had a GREAT time too! They were singing, "Fins to the left, Fins to the right" for an entire week after the concert. I've got some real Buffett fans on my hands.

My little man had a great Fall Season this year in flag football. He was the MVP for the Vikings team this year. Scored a couple of touchdowns and actually caught some passes. Pretty darn impressive for a 4 year old, I think.

My little man finally gets to play flag football this year. He's on The Vikings 3-4 year old team. The day started out with some great rounds of shark and minnows where my little one was the last one standing in 2 rounds. Pretty good for his first year of organized sports. I just hope he continues to like it and doesn't get upset when he gets tackled or knocked down...

The boys and I had such a fun time decorating this year for Halloween! The huge purple spider had been quite a hit this year with the neighbors and our graveyard is pretty cool too. Mountain Getaway

Our family had a ball spending the weekend with my Mom in the NC mountains. We visited Sky Top apple orchard, strolled around Flat Top and ate lunch in downtown Hendersonville. It's hard to believe that my first born child is already 7 years old! Where did the time go? It still seems like yesterday when I first experienced playgroups, The Children's Museum and quiet walks with the stroller. Now his favorite activity is playing his Nintendo DS. I heard that things would change when he got older, but I felt like that time was soooo far away. Now here it is... Happy Birthday sweet baby boy! Flag Football was great this year! The Viking team remains undefeated and had lots of fun doing it. We had a great group of boys who all loved to play and tried hard. It was a season with lots of cancellations due to extreme weather, but when they did play-they played HARD!

My family loves a oyster roast! We had the best time hanging out with old friends and shuckin' some LowCountry oysters. To my surprise, both my boys have loved steamed oysters since they were about 1 year old. People think it's crazy, but the kids just can't get enough.

Our little black pug Ashley has become an important member of our family lately, esp. since the passing of our other pug Cooper. She's getting older (will be 12 yrs old this summer) and she's become so sweet and snuggly in her old age. The boys look forward to cozying up to her every day. My boys had the absolute best time playing in the snow this past weekend, throwing snowballs, making snowmen and just running through all the snow. Our entire neighborhood was outside that day. It's the first time we've gotten any snow in about 10 years! Needless to say I was pretty excited myself! It was "the best thing ever" according to my boys. It only lasted a day, but it sure was fun while it lasted!

Goodbye Cooper

Our family lost one of our pugs a few weeks ago. He was with me for 13 years and 4 months and was the best pet! My boys just loved him so much. It was such a shock to us all when his little body just quit working. I will always remember that Friday evening when I found him. Eventhough he would have been 14 years old this September, I still did not want to think about the day would lose him. Our family has recovered, but still miss our beloved pug Cooper. May he rest in peace and remain in our hearts forever. We love you Coop!

Our family had a great Christmas this year! The boys got bunk beds and could not have been more excited! They actually ask if they can go to bed now to snuggle in their beds.
They spread lots of reindeer food for Santa's reindeer and left mint chocolate chip cookies and milk for Santa. Breakfast consisted of sticky buns and milk and later we had family come over to enjoy a late lunch. 10 adults and 2 kids was quite a house full - the boys had so much fun showing off all their new toys.

The swamp of Cypress Gardens

Big Brother's class went of a field trip to Cypress Gardens that I chaperoned a while back. It was such a beautiful place and so undiscovered. I was shocked at how noncommercial it was-although they did have a gift shop. They took us on a 20 minute canoe ride thru the swamp, gave us a tour of the butterfly house, gave us a lesson on insects and pollination, pond poking and ate lunch at picnic tables. It was so much fun!

We visited my Mom in the NC mountains a few weeks ago. It was so beautiful and the leaves had just changed. The boys had such a good time hiking through the many trails and climbing rocks. I think they could have been perfectly content to just romp around in leaves and climb rocks all day.

Children's book author Toni Buzzeo visited my child's school last week and brought along some very cute books with her. Two of the ones I purchased are Dawdle Duckling and Little Loon and Papa. They are so fun and my boys love them. Toni Buzzeo lives in Maine where loons are cherished and plentiful, especially on Rangeley Lake, where she and her husband Ken have a cabin. My boys love their pugs! My doggies have been with me for a long time now. My tan (fawn) pug is now 13 years old and the black one is now 11. That's pretty old in doggie years. I have to say they used to be pretty spoiled when it was just me, but they sure do love my little boys. It warms my heart to see the big hugs they get every morning! It's just so cute....

Palmetto Islands County Park

We had a great trip to Palmetto Islands over Labor Day weekend. The boys loved going on a bike ride except for Will falling and skinning his knee! Poor little guy. He's getting so good on his bike. He rode through paths in the woods and over some rough terrain too. The boys also had a great time on the "Big Toy" playground. Dargan was content to swing while Will climbed his heart out.

While we were in Myrtle Beach last weekend we took the boys to see Le Grande Cirque. It was a great fun-filled show complete with acrobats, jugglers, contortionists and great dancers. The best part was seeing the cats and dogs come out dressed in costumes. Will and Dargan thought the dressed up bride and groom being pulled in a carriage by 2 little dogs in tuxes was just about too much! They laughed and laughed! We just had to have some evidence of just how silly those cats looked sitting so still and all dressed up for a wedding so we had to buy this picture as proof.

My boys had their first days of school a few weeks ago. They were both very excited and are already settling in to the new school year. Will is in First Grade with Mrs. Spradlin and Dargan's at Coastal Christian Prep School and has Mrs. Blakeney. The year is off to a good start!

Dargan told us that he wanted to be a big boy and ride his bike the other day. To our shock and amazement, he got up on it and actually rode up and down the street! This came as quite a shock since he would not even attempt to push the pedals on his tricycle-ever. He is officially a Big Kid now and no more tricycle-now it's big boy bike (with training wheels) that is.

I have a new neice. She was born by c-section today at 1 pm and weighed 7.4 lbs. Her name is Annie Rose. My Mom said she is just beautiful and I can't wait to meet her! My parents now have 6 grandchildren. Wow! How did that happen so fast? The boys and I are headed out to stay at my oldest brother's river house tomorrow night. I can't wait to see it and can't beleive we are just getting around to seeing it. They have had it for many years now. I know my boys will love it, esp. because they get to play with their cousins and sleep on the floor! What fun... After we spend the night and have some fun at the river house we will move on to meet our newest addition to our family. She will be coming home from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. We visited a new playpark near our home last week with the boys best "girlfriends." The kids had a great time just hangin' out together and climbing on some new stuff and looking at the crabs and water. The fact that my 2 year old still takes a NAP (sometimes 3.5 hours)! It's amazing what that break can do for you.

Sundresses. I have acquired a few this summer season and they are so comfortable and cool.

Fresh Tomatoes. What's better than an old-fashioned tomato sandwich with some Duke's mayo?

Back to School Shopping Sales. I used to loathe it when I was little, but now that I'm a parent it's quite exciting.

Flip Flops. I have so many I can wear a different pair almost every day.

EBay. I have sold quite a few things lately that were just cluttering up my house and have made some decent money.

My Blackberry. Now that I have one, I wonder how I lived without one.

Sleeping late (if you consider 7:30 am late). Not having to have the kids ready and out the door at 7:15 am is quite a treat.

My Beach Cruiser bicycle complete with wicker basket and baby buggy on board. It's so nice to take a long summer bike ride while talking to my little one and having a LITTLE LAMB ride in my basket.

Old Friends. You can always count on them to listen when you need to vent. I wouldn't trade them for the world (eventhough they are too busy to read my blog!)

We saw this cute movie today-Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Very good, but my little guy was a little scared from all the loud dinosaur noises. Big Brother loved it esp. since got to sit beside one of his best buddies while sharing a big box of Nerds. Heaven.

Big Brother attended Little Picasso Art Camp this past week and really made some GREAT stuff! He had such a FUN time and I was amazed at all the cool original works he made. He and Little Brother want to make sure they both take this camp next summer.

For Father's Day this year the boys and I decided to make a fun, cool craft for Daddy. It turned out better (and was easier) than expected and the boys had a GREAT time making it. We are planning to do some landscaping in our yard this summer and will need some stepping stones anyway, and this gives the yard a personal touch.

The last day of kindergarten was bittersweet for me and my little guy. One minute we were all excited that school was out for the summer and the next, we were sad that we would miss our favorite teachers and friends. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster and was near tears all day (I did not expect that at all!) My little guy actually told his teacher on the last day - "I don't want school to be over, I'm going to miss you and school." It's hard to get so attached during the school year then to only start it all over in a few months with new friends and new teachers. I guess that is what life is all about though. Nobody ever said it would be EASY, right?
