Before I was a Mom....

I came across these VERY TRUE words I feel describe my feeling about being a Mom to my 2 boys. (No, I did not write this in case you're wondering)
Hope you like it....

BEFORE I WAS A MOM.......

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words in a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom-I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom-I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom-I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth. The joy. The love. The heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much love before I was a Mom.

Oldies, but goodies...

In an attempt to organize my old photos I came across these from 2004. It's funny to think back to this time when things seemed so simple and carefree. My life is so much more complicated now-2 kids, real estate career, schools, etc.... Why can't we just stop time or AT LEAST slow... it down so we can savor each special moment such as the days these pictures were taken....

Trick or Treat....

Beckman Schou in his wagon
Dargan ready for some "treats"
Daddy as Indiana Jones with Dargan
Will & Lukas Schou
Skeleton & Superman

The boys had a GREAT time trick or treating Halloween night. The evening got started @ 6 pm with the boys piling in the wagon ready for some.... candy. Will & Dargan ran over to our neighbor's house to show Lukas and Beckman their costumes. There was LOTS of excitement in the air...The kids went up to each house ready for treats. Little brother kept saying, "Treats Mommy, Treats." It took us almost an hour to get all the way around our block. I was about pooped after picking Dargan up from that wagon at EVERY house. The night wrapped up around 7:30 and I have to say I was pretty surprised the boys went to sleep so well after all the sugar they consumed in such a short period of time. Don't you just love Halloween??????

Big Brother Looking Back....

Will and his Grandfather "Pa"

I came across these old pictures of Big Brother when he was almost 2 years old. He does look at lot like little brother Dargan, doesn't he? It's hard to believe he's not a little baby anymore......he's my Big Boy now.....

Will's Halloween Party

I was one of the Moms in charge of helping with Will's Halloween party this year. I actually made some goodies-brownies with cream cheese icing topped with candy corn. Quite yummy!!! We had lots of crafts for the kids and they even got to enjoy a little Halloween Twister game...The dyed orange Halloween shirt was really cool-we got that idea from Family Fun magazine which I LOVE. I have to say I was compeletly WORN OUT from being around 5 year olds almost the entire day!! I don't know how those teachers do it.....

Laurel Hill Field Day 2008

Will and his new buddy Max Bailey

I helped out with Field Day at Will's school this year. There were all kinds of fun activities for the kids, such as the classic egg/spoon race, guess how many apples in the basket, and throw the football thru the ring. The kids all had a great time and it ended up being quite chaotic towards the end. The entire kindergarten clan was running in all different directions. It was hard for me to even keep up with Will. He was ALL over the place...Large groups of girls held hands and chatted which took me back to my own playground days...How cute they all were - a great time was had by all at Laurel Hill this Field day 2008.

Priceless....

Dargan came up to me this morning while I was checking my favorite blog updates to give me a hug. A hug from your 2 year old- this in itself is priceless, but as I picked up my little man to give him his hug I noticed something....a small line of pancake syrup on the tip of his nose and dangling from it was a long peice of my hair.....Now, talk about priceless....
